As business owners, there is always a lot on our to-do lists. We usually wear many hats throughout each business day.
Have you ever sat and thought for a moment what all you have to do to keep things flowing successfully, or do you just do it all because it has to be done, and thinking about it just takes up more time?
Consider all your business tasks
Depending on what type of business you have your tasks will obviously vary.
For now, let’s use this example if you are a Business Coach you have…
Client work that has to be done every day.
Your marketing approaches to manage (ads, email marketing, website management).
Maintaining your social media presence with valuable content (content creation in itself is time-consuming) and audience engagement/building.
Create consistent content for your website and marketing platforms.
Finance logging and tracking.
And the list goes on.
You also have to consider the time you are investing to further your education and skills (online courses or business coaches for yourself) because the industry is always changing and you have to be educated.
Your personal and professional development is so important.
We can’t forget that creating has to happen as well because that’s where our financial growth will happen (meaning digital products, online courses, masterclasses, strategies, and more).
There are even more behind the scenes things that happen in your business to keep it running smoothly/successfully, but we now have an idea of how much is truly going into running your business.
And the good news is that you don’t have to do it all by yourself.
The tasks only you can do
With all the above tasks mentioned are there any that you put off doing until the last minute because you don’t enjoy it? I know there are a few tasks I personally don’t enjoy having to do.
If you don’t have to be the one doing those tasks, it’s time to put those on the list to outsource and kiss the dread of doing them yourself goodbye!
Now consider how much time you are left each day, week, or month to spend in your zone of genius.
Why is that important? It’s important because that’s where the financial growth happens for your business. If you aren’t able to spend enough time creating or strategizing, how will your business move forward?
If you are maxed out on client work and your own business tasks then you will find yourself at a standstill.
You are reading this blog because standing still isn’t in your vocabulary right? You know that growth is the dream and you have these amazing ideas but you don’t have the time to implement them.
The tasks you can outsource
Now that you’ve mapped out the tasks that only you can do, it’s time to find one task that you can outsource.
Yes, only one task!
What is a task that takes up too much of your time each day, or something that you don’t love doing?
If you spend a lot of time on content creating, that would be a great task to outsource. You can research content creators and decide who might be a good fit for you.
Instagram is great for this kind of research. You can look into specific hashtag groups and find your ideal team member to meet with and determine if they are the best fit for your business.
If maintaining your social media stresses you out, then let that be the task you outsource. The goal is to increase your revenue by outsourcing the task that you spend too much time on during the week.
As a virtual assistant, I love that my services help my clients grow and flourish in their business.
The stress for them from that pesky task is gone. While they take time off I am still working behind the scenes for them. They are in their zone of genius creating instead of being busy without the production.
Start building your team
You don’t have to hire 12 people right away. You can start small and grow your team as your business grows. Considering all that needs to be done in your business is the first most important step to outsourcing successfully.
Once you make that list, consider what your hands need to be on and what they don’t.
Whatever you don’t personally need to be doing should go into its own list. Once you have that list of tasks you can outsource, it’s time to consider what type of team member you need.
Is your list full of mostly admin tasks? If so look into an Admin VA or OBM.
Is the list mostly marketing tasks? Consider a marketing specialist.
Do you dread maintaining your social media? You guessed it, hire a Social Media Manager.
Outsourcing made easy
Deciding who to hire to grow your business becomes easy when you take the time to really consider what you can outsource and how much time that gives you to spend in your zone of genius.
I’m going to make that even easier for you. I have created a worksheet that allows you to map out all your business tasks. You can then separate your tasks into a list that you personally have to do.
There is also a separate list for what needs to still be done but can be done by someone else.
You can grab the worksheet here and get to planning who your first or next team member will be today!
